Use Google AdWords To Find Your Most Profitable Keywords
Writing by Nick Stamoulis on Friday, April 6, 2007
Keyword research is something everyone must do. You should be doing it before you do anything else. Of course, there are many methods to conducting proper keyword research. But one method provides you benefits in pay-per-click advertising as well as in finding keywords for your websites and articles.
I’m talking about Google AdWords.
If you plan on doing any pay-per-click advertising you can set up an account with Google AdWords. During your ad creation you get to do some keyword research. After all, your ads will be keyword-optimized just like your website. After performing your research you should run a test on your ad for about one week. Limit your budget to $10 per day and set your maximum bid to $10 per click. That’s so you can see who the top dog is for each keyword.
After a week you should be able to see which of your keywords are most profitable. Pay attention to your CTR and your Avg CPC. You want a CTR of at least 1%. Take your most profitable keywords and use those for your website. Then when you correspond your ads to your website you can point them to the pages that use the same keywords. There is no need to perform the same research twice.
