web2walk: Cool New Tool Does Even More

Yesterday I introduced you to a new tool. web2walk.com allows you to check outbound links on any website on the Web. It does something else too.
Type in the URL you want to check in the box in the bottom left corner of the screen and click “Walk.” You’ll get a screenshot of the website on the right side of the screen. On the screenshot you’ll see several buttons. From top to bottom on the left of the screenshot:
- A green “up” arrow
- A red “down” arrow
- A yellow smiley face
- A yellow “yech” face
- A black and white spinning wheel
What are these buttons for? The up arrow allows you to vote up the website as if voting at Digg. You can increase the rating for that website, which gives web2walk a bit of a social feel. You can actually use it as a social marketing tool. The down arrow does just the opposite. It allows you to degrade a website with your vote. The yellow faces are pretty self explanatory – I like it or I don’t. The spinning wheel? You make the website as spam. There you have it, a social media tool wrapped up in a webmastering gadget. Niche, huh?
But that’s not all. On the bottom of the screenshot you have buttons that allow you to add the site to your favorites, view your favorites, Digg it, add it to del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, or Hatena, and you can add tags or comments as well.
If you click on the “Favorites” star you’ll be taken to a white screen with a link menu in the top left corner. Click on “Sites Info” and you’ll get a list of websites that have been viewed on web2walk. You can visit them and vote on them. This is one cool site and one more way to market the websites you own through social media. Will it catch on? Who knows. We can only hope.
