Search Engine Optimization And Frequency
The search engine optimization mantra has often been, ‘content is king’, followed by keywords and inbound links and……. I am sure you have heard it all before. I recently read a question that caught my attention, the question being ‘how often does Google update the SERPs’.
The answer I assume was looking beyond the page crawling and wondering how long it took for crawled data being reflected in the SERPs. I have seen pages being indexed within an hour of publishing, however I feel that was due to more to the use of social media more than anything else. Search engine optimization strategies certainly help the process along.
The real interest to me is the frequency in that crawling to begin with. If your page is only read once per week then the data will only show up down the track. Google cannot update what it doesn’t know about. Of course your search engine optimization strategies included notifying Google of any changes.
Google has a memory. If you publish twice per day, you will often find that Google crawls twice per day. If you publish three times per day than chances are they will crawl more often. If you publish once per week, Google will crawl once per week. You need to allow for a 1-24 hour delay if you are publishing through the traditional Adsense Dashboard.
The more frequently you can publish content, the more often the search engines will visit.
