Do You Use Keyword Stemming As Part Of Your SEO

Writing by Nick Stamoulis ShareThis

There are many tools in the search engine optimization cabinet, keyword stemming is just one of them. To many website owners, they will be saying, ‘keyword what?”.

Keyword stemming is the fine art of extending a keyword by using plurals, suffixes or prefixes. It can also include the addition of words either side to extend the keywords scope. A major factor in search engine optimization is the hunt for relevant keywords that are under optimized by competitors, yet frequently used by searchers.

Take a simple word like school and see what happens when you use keyword stemming to expand the scope:

  • schools
  • pre-school
  • high-school
  • school boy
  • school girl
  • schooling
  • schooled

I am sure you can think of more. In fact some of those keywords could be further expanded on – schooling: home schooling; schooled: home schooled. It becomes virtually endless and an important ally to any search engine optimization program.

Keyword stemming, you have probably used it in part without even knowing. However, when it comes to search engine optimization, you can never have too many tools. More importantly, you need to know you have them and how to use them effectively.

It all depends on how good you are, if your being whitehat, what kind of site you have and the SEO landscape that you play in.

I would go to a company that is highly touted and pay for an review to get a better idea of what you face, and then decide which route to go.
