Is Twitter Good For SEO?

I don’t dispute the value of Twitter at all. As a social marketing tool it is a very valuable tool and is great for attracting new blog readers and finding people to network with. But is it good for SEO?
Partially.
You can get one good inbound link to the website of your choice. But that’s it. Any links you put into your bio will be nofollow links. The only dofollow link is the one link allowed in your profile under the field titled Web. You are allowed to put links in your bio but, again, they are nofollow.
And don’t try to game the system. Twitter will only allow you to set up one profile with each e-mail address. In other words, no multiple profiles using the same e-mail address. You can set up other profiles with separate e-mail addresses, but you can only be logged into one account at a time so it’s not like that will do you any good. And tweets are all nofollow so no benefit there.
The folks at Twitter have done a good job trying to keep people from gaming the site and spamming the search engines. You can benefit from Twitter, but the search engine optimization benefits are limited. That’s not necessarily bad.
