Three Local Search Tool You Shouldn’t Pass Up
Writing by Nick Stamoulis on Tuesday, October 14, 2008
If you own a local business and you are looking for a great way to get listed in the search engines and help your prospects find you then there are tools you must know about and use, and they all belong to a popular search engine:
- Google Maps
- Yahoo! Local
- MSN Live Local
These three local search directories are great sources for locating a business. Each directory is free to submit your site to and you won’t be listed automatically if you are included in the search engines’ search results. You have to actually submit your site, but it’s free in all three cases.
When you list your business in these local directories, you’ll be allowed to list your physical address, phone number, business name, and website address. You’ll also get a map associated with your business location to help your customers find you better. HINT: The inbound link to your website counts. There’s no reason not to list your small business website in the local directories owned by the search engines.
Added Bonus: Ask.com has a local directory called AskCity.
