Geographical SEO Is More Than Just Place Names

When it comes to geographical SEO, there’s more to it than mentioning a few place names. Yes, you can throw in the names of cities and towns, counties and townships, states, neighborhoods, and countries. But that’s not all there is.
Zip codes are another way to tackle the geographical SEO game. You can also target GPS settings. Or, you can discuss familiar sites and historical events.
For instance, if your business is in the Gettysburg area then you might discuss Civil War Reenactments or a specific section of the battlefield. Maybe in Florida you’ll discuss Ponce de Leon and his famous explorations. California businesses might discuss famous tsunamis or Ronald Reagan.
Historical events can be a great way to address local geographical issues related to businesses even outside of the tourism and travel industry. In Texas, for example, you might throw in a “remember the Alamo” greeting or “remember when the Dallas Cowboys won the Super Bowl with Roger Staubach?”
Just remember, when it comes to geographical SEO, there’s more to it than just throwing in a place name or two. That’s a mere start.
