By being active (adding connections, joining groups, answering questions, etc, etc) in your network you are creating more links to your profile. In fact a recent Business Week article talked about how Google was working on a new system to quantify your personal social networking worth by looking at the popularity of all of your social profiles.  Sounds a little scary but is probably similar to assigning PageRank to you as a person.</description>
