Will Google Friend Connect Help With Your SEO?
Google recently announced the social application that it has been promising for some time called Google Friend Connect. It allows for ordinary sites to become membership sites and make them more social. It seems that anyone can now have a social website – like Facebook or MySpace.
Google Friend Connect isn’t the first to come out with this service. Facebook beat them by a few days. And I know that Facebook profiles are very good at appearing on page 1 of the SERPs for the users. It makes me wonder if Google Friend Connect will be good for search engine optimization.
I don’t see why it wouldn’t. I mean, it would be really sad if it wasn’t. The No. 1 website offering a service to all webmasters everywhere without any SEO benefits. How cruel would that be? Anyway, I’m just waiting to see who puts Google Friend Connect to good use and report back the results. Is it good for search engine marketing? I think time will tell.

I’m looking to find out the same thing. Are there demo sites out there?
Mashable.com has installed Google Friend Connect on its site and you can join there to see how it all works.
we have seen on many Blogs using Google Friend Connect getting some good SEO results so far. for sure we will need to see it again in the long term to better see the benefit or not of it.
I added google friend connect the other day to my American Idol Blog
we will see if it brings in any thing more. Have top ranking for the site anyway on various terms so will be hard to evaluate.
I don’t think having just 50 or 100 people “connected” will show any jumps in Serps but if you have 1000- 5000 in your network their could be some “Trust” rank associated.
Google Friend Connect is not meant to bring traffic in, it is meant to keep it there. Big difference.
Google Friend Connect kicks Facebook Connect butt. It does ten times more than Facebook ever can and it is meant to build huge interactive communities by integrating all the Google properties into a shared social community.
Why does GFC kick Facebook butt? Look at your email platform on Facebook. Now look at Gmail. Gmial is the messaging platform for Google’s social networking platform. No contest. But then there are 4 more major pieces that no one else gets either.
