Boston SEO networking group held its monthly meeting with a packed room of event attendees. The room was filled with regulars that see the benefit in coming each month to network and gain a dozen solid tips to apply to there websites. Mark from AmericanRamp.com said that he was able to get his website to rank for a dozen targeted keyword phrases, simply by applying the tips that he learned from attending the seo meetups. Now I’ll try to remember all that was discussed for this review of the event.

Guest Speaker: Nick a Super Affiliate from NickyCakes.com

After we went around the room for sixty plus introductions for who attended. Nick gave us his story for how he got into the affiliate marketing industry. He has bin programming websites since he was eight years old. Now twenty five, he has bin doing affiliate marketing for just a year and half. His previous jobs were at jeep dealership, retail stores to a cigar shop while also attending college. Nick went on digitalpoint.com a large internet marketing forum to try to see how he could make money online. After getting lost in fake eBooks and garbage advice, he found a forum WikedFire.com. This was one of his reasons for his success by networking with real money making affiliates. Now Nick is helping out others by giving back as a forum moderator on WickedFire.com to his own chat room on his blog NickyCakes.com.

Nick discussed how there is no secret weapon for how to make money as an affiliate. It’s all about testing your landing pages and offers. Then take the time to really study your stats, with free tools like Tracking202. Nick typically will try out up to ten affiliate offers with a $100 budget each for PPC ads. If he can’t recoup his hundred bucks, he moves on to next offer.

Then the Q&A opened up where Nick was grilled with over thirty questions like:

Q: What offers do you promote?

A: Of course he didn’t answer this. But did mention he focuses on the free trial offers and stays away from percent of sale. But most of his blog readers or friends would have already known this.

Q: Why would a merchant want to pay an affiliate to just give away coupons and rank for there brand?

A: Why not have a thousand marketers promoting your product and helping you to own all the search engine listings

Q: What works for a landing page? Long / Short

A: It depends he has some really really long pages that convert surprisingly amazing.

Q: Why not build an email marketing list?

A: Nick seems to not do this. His goal is to just get them to the merchants page

Q: What’s the life cycle of your campaigns?

A: Most offers convert for a few months then start to dye down. So it’s important to keep trying out new offers and test.. test.. test..

We then ended with a few challenge advice questions while finishing off the selection of goodies compliments of are food sponsor Jerry from www.FemScanUSA.com. www.BostonSEO.org is always looking for new attendees, food sponsor, advertisers, articles & guest speakers.
