YouTube grew by leaps and bounds last year:

YouTube led the growth surge, accounting for 49 percent of the incremental gain in videos viewed compared to November.

With so many people uploading videos for public consumption, this could very well be the year of the video. And with very good reason. We’re talking about millions of people viewing videos every day and that’s climbing. Soon, if you want to make a big splash online and increase revenues you’ll need to offer some kind of video marketing.

Video is about more than just looking cool, though. While there are search engine optimization benefits there are also powerful branding benefits. YouTube allows you to set up your own channel, which means you can have your own variety show or teach people how to conduct business online. There is no shortage of things that you can do with online video and YouTube is just one tool in your arsenal of online video marketing. But it’s a big tool.

What do I see happening next? Video blogging will take on a life of its own. Just wait and see.
