Is Quality Content Enough?

You’ve heard people say that quality content is enough. Just build your website with quality content and it will rank and you’ll get traffic and sales. Right? Well, not so fast.
Let’s define quality content. What does it mean?
Quality content is such a vague term it could mean different things to different people. But you want content that connects with your audience. Your website content must appeal to a group of people, or a subset of people within a niche. Targeting your content to the right audience is as important as having content at all. And that goes beyond mere quality.
What I mean is you could develop a great website with quality content that targets the wrong market. If you are trying to reach owners of parakeets and instead attract a lot of people interested in macaws then there is something wrong with your content. It boils down to the words that you are using on your website and that’s an search engine optimization matter. It’s fixable, but you’ve got to be able to diagnose the problem.
Is quality content important? Yes, but good white hat on site search engine optimization and quality content are not synonymous. They are separate but equal. And unless you start building your website with both in mind you may not reach the right market for your product or service.

I have a question regarding content.
I purchased re-publishing rights from an online real estate news corp in order to post fresh, daily articles on my blog.
They sell the same articles to other real esate agents across the country. Basically, I’m re-publishing the same content as my competitors… word for word, literally.
Will this make or break me on page rank?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Dave P.-
Thanks for reading and your question.
I would not recommend this as this content is not unique to your website. Often times the search engines could see a duplicate content type issue…
A good thing that may help might is re-write each article so the message is intact and the content is 100% unique. Or hire a professional writer to develop custom content for your site.
