Can You Optimize For Two Niches At Once?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

One of the great things about the Internet is you can be an individual. Most Internet marketers and search engine optimization experts will tell you that you should narrow your niche as much as possible without setting it too narrow and optimize everything you do around that one niche. But there may be times when you don’t want to do that. You may want to optimize for two niches. But when?

Let’s just say you don’t want to optimize your website for two niches throughout your website. Cooking with butter and exotic seabirds of the orient probably are not a good mix – unless you happen to be an expert in cooking exotic seabirds of the orient with butter, then you might be able to pull it off.

Generally speaking, however, if you have more than one interest and your interests can be broadened into a larger topical category then it might be possible to optimize your website or blog in two niche at the same time. For instance, if you are an avid fisher and you like to skydive you might write a blog that is about outdoor adventures, both of which skydiving and fishing would fall into. That way you could talk about both of your interests freely and optimize for both niches. Hey, it’s just a thought.

This is a very good thought and is very helpful especially for those who are still new in the search optimization industry. Everything counts. Thanks.

  • @ Gladys – Thanks for reading! SEO is skill, science and art that always evolves and there is always something more/new to learn for sure!

An interesting post and we tested it on one of out blogs. We never linkend the niches and the topics were so diverse but Google still loved our blog and both niches still get organic searchengine traffic.

We only built links to one niche topic and not the other but the other also gets free traffic. The blog just got PR2 as well on the April PR shake up. Its not the first time either :)

Right now, we’re testing a total mixture of 100% unrelated niches and so far, we’re starting to see organic SE traffic to this as well. The idea here is to continually build related backlinks to the individual categories specifically.

Its new so time will tell how it works out :)

    Thanks

    Susan
