Why Everyone Should Be On Twitter Now

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

If you haven’t opened your Twitter account, you’d better do so in a hurry. Why? Because the stakes just got higher.

Biz Stone announced on the Twitter Blog yesterday that Twitter Search is open to everyone. That means that Twitter is now effectively the world’s only real-time search engine. They’re in competition with Google!

That’s real competition, not some faux competition that you’ve heard about from all those semantic and natural language startups you’ve heard about for the last couple of years. This is real-time search. Google can’t even do that. Which makes it all the more impressive.

By being able to search for what people are talking about right now through Twitter search you can see the hot trending topics and jump on them before everyone else – before your competition even. And if you can leverage knowledge faster, well, that just makes you that much more competitive. You can actually use the Twitter search tool to optimize your next blog post by searching for variations of your key phrases to see what is happening right now. The only thing that could improve this tool for search and blog post search engine optimized is statistical information on the searches that you make so that you can evaluate keyword data comparatively. Is that forthcoming? What do you think?

Nick – How much of a kickback do you get for writing this scaremongering piece of advertisment for Twitter?

  • @Anonymous Coward – I think your name says it all! I almost deleted your comment as a spam (which it is)…if you question is real then the answer is NO kick back as I really do believe in the power of Twitter.
