Do You Put Your Phone Number In Your Description?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

If a user enters a search term into Google and that search term is the term you have optimized a page for then Google will use your meta description as the snippet in the search results page. That’s a great place to put your phone number. And if you include your phone number in the description you’ll be ahead of 98% of your competition.

Most of your competition have not even optimized their website and of those who have, they aren’t putting their phone number in the description. By including your phone number in your description, you also need to include your keyword in the description, you give yourself that much of an edge over your competition. Many customers will call you before they ever visit your website. Why? Because they are in a hurry. You provide them with what they need before they get to your website – a way to contact you.

It’s an old trick, but it still works. In order for it to be effective, however, you need to optimize your website well and include your primary page keyword in the description. Then you’re in business.
