Very practical advice. Especially in regards to only writing good original content. No getting around it content is king. Also excellent advice in directing us to be focused and consistent with our writing.

Hi John - I would recommend testing the article sources and would not submit to various directories individually. In many cases automated article marketing distribution software products contain spammy directories, by submitting each one over time, you have more control this way...

We've used posting articles in various directories, but does sending out several articles to one or two hundred directories make sense? Through services or through software? Does it build up links that are recognized even though it is the same content, or is it better to send unique content to one or two directories at a time?

This article is quite useful, and I can see how it would drive traffic to my site.
I also see the real work in making article marketing my major way to build links, but because of its potential for long term link building,I am going to give it a go.
Thanks
Barbara
