Is Google Freaking Out?

There has been some talk lately of Google’s ranking algorithm and how erratic they seem to be right now. I wouldn’t worry. We go through this every now and then, though I admit that it is usually over by now.

If the author of this article is right and Google is experimenting with site trust factors then that’s a dangerous thing to be messing around with. It could be a few days before we see an end to the current topsy-turvy. In general, however, these types of updates (assuming that’s what this is) take place over a weekend or a couple of days and they’re over. I’m not sure when webmasters started noticing a decline in rankings, but I’m reasonably sure it’s been more than a couple of days.
Thankfully, Google’s most profound updates don’t come often. Maybe every two or three years. It’s been about long since the last really big change. Maybe we’re due a huge update to shake things up a bit.
