A Phone Number Helps Build Trust
When building your website you might be tempted to include your phone number in various places on your website. That’s a good way to build trust in your site visitors. After all, if they see that a real person is available to speak to them at a moment’s notice they might be more likely to do business with you. But does a phone number help with your search engine optimization efforts?
It can, actually.
A phone number can be a clue to your geographic location. That will help with local search. But if your target is international in scope then that won’t be much help at all. Even still, it can’t hurt.

I’d recommend putting your phone number in your Title and Description meta tags, if possible. That way, you get your phone number in front of searchers before they even visit your website. There are some people who will call you before they ever click on the link to visit your website. Once the visitor is on your site, she should see your phone number near the top of the page and it wouldn’t hurt to put it on every page. You don’t want your visitors to have to hunt in order to find your contact information. Make it easy for them.
