Cyxymu Attack – Any SEO Impact?
If you've been following the news on the Twitter denial of service attack then you are likely aware that it wasn't just Twitter that was the target. Facebook, LiveJournal, and other social networks were affected too. The reason, says a Russian blogger, is because the Kremlin wanted to shut him up. It does make sense that only someone with a huge amount of resources could accomplish such a feat, but the amazing thing is that Facebook, LiveJournal, and Google's Blogger were all able to ward off the attacks. Only Twitter suffered any real damage. Is that surprising? It really isn't. Twitter still has no monetization plan, therefore no real way to improve its technology to ward off such attacks. That could mean that the CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Can Alt Tags Be Too Long?
An interview with Peter Linsley, Google's Image Search product manager, is a very good read. One of the questions Eric Enge asks is "When does it (alt tag) become too long?" Good question, Eric. And I like Peter's answer a lot: Obviously there is no hard and fast rule. I would just think of how the user would feel about it. I think if it's a very long description of all the details of the image, it's probably something that would be more useful on the webpage itself. A good rule of thumb is just to say, here is what's in the image, and then you can put a title, caption, and description elsewhere on the page. I would treat it like an CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

How Do You Develop Authority?
You hear this word "Authority" thrown around these days. People use it for all kinds of reasons. In one sense, authority is a word that describes the depth of a person's knowledge. On another level, it simply means the power to which an individual has been elevated over others. Either way, people respect it. Authority can be abused. It can be acquired in less than honorable ways. But when legitimate, authority is a powerful force and when used for good it's even more powerful. And that's why you want to focus your efforts on becoming an authority in your niche. A strongly search engine optimized website is good, but it will only take you so far. Is SEO Getting Harder?
I think we may be at a crossroads where search engine optimization is concerned. There is a growing interest in social media, and more and more social media marketing is becoming as great a necessity as good old-fashioned SEO, and there are some companies and consultants who are calling for regulation of the industry. In the early days of search engine marketing industry, if you could add a handful of keywords onto your web pages and stuff your meta tags with keywords then you'd be almost guaranteed a high ranking in the leading search engines of the time. Penalties for violating search engine guidelines were almost unheard of. Now, they seem common place. But is all of that an indication that SEO is getting harder? It seems CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
What Is Unique Content (According To DMOZ)
DMOZ, the Open Directory Project, has a great blog post about what constitutes unique content from their perspective. In fact, when you are planning your website, you might flip through the directory and see what sites are listed there and try to design and write your site to fill a unique place within your niche. If you do that, you can hardly go wrong. Unique content is probably the most important thing when writing and designing a new website. You can SEO a site CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
How Much Should Good SEO Cost?
Should search engine optimization services be free? Should they be expensive? Flat rate? Commission only? What should the SEO charge? It is difficult to answer this question because not everyone needs the same SEO services. Some people need a little tweak on their website and that is all. Other people need a complete overhaul. Some businesses would do fine to trade out their template with another one. Others would benefit greatly from a long-term link building plan. Every situation is different, every business is different, and every optimization plan is different. Because of the differences in businesses and the needs of SEO clients, no reputable firm can guarantee results in a certain period of time and if someone tries to sell you a one-size-fits-all SEO plan then CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
