If Content Is The King, Does That Make SEOs The Joker?

That content is king is one saying that over time wears a little thin. Yes, content is important – in fact, with no content we have no web. However, you can have the very best in content, but if no one reads it, it’s totally worthless.

Mikal Belicove on Entrepreneur Daily Dose has a swipe at Social Media and one of the points goes right to the heart of the matter.

If content is king, then distribution would have to be the ace!

And the keyword here is distribution. Search engine optimization is only one component to a distribution program. Social media, marketing (online and offline) and any other form of traffic gathering is what distribution is all about.

For many website owners, the problem has been in the semantics and the approach. They are busy trying to ‘collect’ visitors when the real approach should be to distribute your name, your brand, and the fact you have an online presence.

Distribute that message far and wide and you wont have to ‘collect’ visitors, they will come knocking on your door. When they do,  that is when content can be considered king. Are the SEOs the Joker in the mix or do we just shuffle the cards?
