Twitter Is Just Picking Up Steam
WebProNews points out that even as Twitter gets venture capital funding it's traffic slows down. OK, big deal. Look at the traffic chart from Hitwise and Twitter is coming down off its first wave. But if you ask investors about wave analysis and how that applies to Twitter, you'll likely find that greater days are ahead - at least, there's a promise of better days. Usually, the second and third waves outpace the first wave considerably, which means that Twitter will likely see a small decline in user traffic for a short while before it sees another spike, one that will take it way beyond its current user base. After that, another decline then another big spike. Wave analysis usually sees growth periods of CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Are Internal Links The Same As Inbound Links?
The key thing to understand about how search engines work is that they index pages, not websites. In that regard, every page rises or falls on its own merits. On-page search engine optimization is an important factor for every single page on your website. So too is off-page optimization or link building. That means that any inbound links you have pointing to a page are going to be considered by the search engine algorithm for the purposes of PageRank and ranking. While inbound links from other websites will carry more overall weight, if they are good links, you can't discount internal links. Those will often be your first inbound links to every page. But the most important inbound link to your website (indeed, to every page CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Page Anchors Can Now Be A Valuable SEO Tool
Page anchors have always been a useful instrument for creating a better user experience on any web page. Now, thanks to a recent change at Google, you can use page anchors to increase your search engine optimization and your search engine visibility. Quite frankly, I think this is a cool development. All you need to do to create useful page anchors that could allow you to have those anchors appear in the SERPs is to add a linkable table of contents to the top of each page. This table of contents acts as a simple navigation menu for that page much in the same way that a site navigation bar helps your users find their way around your website. No page is too small for CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Are Scrapers A Big Problem?
Some people spend most of their time fretting over scrapers and scheming up new ways to make their world hurt. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that it's a waste of time to even worry about them. Matt Cutts agrees. But he also goes one step further and tells you how to benefit from scrapers. I'll save you the trouble of having to watch the video and just let the cat out of the bag. Put links in your content back to your site and if the scraper fails to deactivate them then you've got back links. They could boost your search engine optimization efforts. That's actually a pretty good idea. If you do article marketing then you're likely using a resource box. Why not add CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Should Google Sidewiki Scare You?
For the longest time, about the only useful feature of the Google toolbar that I could find was its PageRank feature. I'd check the PageRank of every page I encountered on the web. Then I decided that, because so many people learned to game and it was not that important for search engine optimziation anymore I stopped caring about it and did not use the toolbar anymore. Google toolbar became pretty useless too. Now, just yesterday in fact, Google has introduced a new tool that is a part of the Google toolbar. It's called Google Sidewiki. Watch the video below about Google Sidewiki To Learn More: So what is it? It's a tool apparently somewhat like SearchWiki except that comments made by Google Sidewiki commentators CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Is Content Better Than SEO?
I hear the argument all the time. Those who fall down on the "SEO is more important" side point to rankings as the evidence that SEO is more important than content. Well, in strict technical terms, SEO is content. But that's another matter. We'll cover it in a minute. The people who argue that content is more important than SEO do so on the basis that "content is king", an old cliche. Yes, content is important, but you can write content all day long and if no one sees it then, so what? Michael Martine calls this a false dichotomy. I'll have to agree. If you pose the question in the wrong way then I believe you'll get the wrong answer. We should ask, "Is content CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
How Do you Start With On Site SEO?
How do you optimize a web page? The major search engines rank individual pages, not websites - so it is VERY important that every page of your website is optimized. The first step to your on site optimization or SEO of each page of your site falls within your content. Write good quality user focused content with your visitors in mind that has a purpose that fits into the goal(s) of that particular page. After you have written your content, I think recommend that you conduct extensive keyword research. After you've narrowed down your list of keywords, you assign up to 5 different related keyword phrases to a web page and then start naturally incorporate these keywords throughout the user focused content.
