Microsites are still popular. I'm not sure when they first started gaining their popularity, but it seems they've risen in popularity in the last couple of years. Used to be, landing pages were one page sales letters. They did fine. Webmasters build the pages and drove traffic to them. Now, they build 3-5 page microsites and drive traffic to them. But do those sites - can microsites - get respectable search rankings? First, allow me to point out that search engines don't rank websites. They rank web pages. Should You Drop Your Blog?
I have an on again-off again client who can't seem to decide whether to keep his blog or not. He'll have us add fresh content daily for a couple of months then cancel. A couple of months later he calls us again to get his blog going. I'm going to speculate and say that he cancels his blog for budgetary reasons and that he starts it again because he notices a drop in search engine rankings. Believe me, we understand about budgets. I've noticed that many search engine optimziation blogs are starting to do a lot more of two different things: Talk less about what is really valuable information related to SEO Spread more inaccurate information about the nature of SEO A good question is why?
