Twitter Now Deletes Search Result Tweets
If you've been frustrated at all over deleting tweets that never should have gone then discovered that those tweets were searchable on Twitter, a recent report by TechCrunch should make your day. That deleted tweets won't show up in search results any more may not seem like big news to you, rest assured that it is very significant news. Now that Google and Bing are including tweets in search results, that means those deleted tweets won't garner any SEO and rise to the top of the results at the search engines, taking away search engine optimization mojo from the tweets that deserve it. See the victory now? I only wonder what took so long. I know Twitter doesn't actually have anything close to an operating CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Google Social Search Is Now Live
A couple of days ago we did a post on Google Social Search to let you know it is coming. Today, Google announced that the Google social search feature is now active. This is both good news and bad news, depending on how you look at this... Here is a cool video presented by Google's Matt Cutts about Google Social Search and How it Works: The reason Google Social Search is good news is because you can now get additional search results whenever you query Google for information. Those additional results, however, do not appear based on any algorithm or Google-biased data. Rather, it comes from your social graph, the people in your social circle that Google knows about. Google Local That Are Not Local Search Results
David Naylor made an observation that Google could be localizing search results based on the search query. It doesn't seem right that they would do this. But it got me to thinking. What are some ways you could take advantage of this? One way that is almost obvious is to start a new domain. If your current domain is a general niche-targeted website then you might set up a domain specifically for the key phrase that you want to target and aim it at the local region with a Google Tilt on it. For instance "tennis courts for hire". You could set up a website targeting that phrase specifically and write your content to appeal to an Australian market. Create Great Content or Go Out of Business!
I thought this was funny. Joe Hall got snarky and suggested that someone try porn instead of producing great content because of a question they asked through a social networking site. Believe me, I understand his response. That doesn't mean I'd encourage you to get into the porn business. But, seriously, if you are so lazy and cheap that you'll use a free service to ask someone for free advice on how you can get more traffic to your blog with less work and less-than-great content then you don't need to be producing content. Imagine a business owner planning to start a laundry service in his neighborhood asking the home owners in that area, "How can I build a great laundry service without CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Do You Approve The Wrong Pingbacks?
A pingback is a notification from another website that your site has been updated. It can happen in a number of ways. You could ping a ping service, which will then notify its subscribers that your blog has been updated. Services like Technorati.com and BlogCatalog usually fall into this category. Another type of pingback is when you link to another blog. That blog owner is notified of your link through a pingback. Still, another type of pingback is when you bookmark your website at one of the many social bookmarking services available online. Those services will pingback to your blog because, after all, they are linking to you. A pingback usually appears in your comments. In WordPress, you'll get a notification in the Admin area of your CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

User Initiated Content – Worth The Hassle?
You've no doubt heard of user generated content (UGC). It's content that users generate for you in the form of blog comments, forum postings, wiki information, etc. If a user can log in to your site and post information that you publish then it's user generated content. But what about user initiated content? This is content that you generate based on user input. For instance, a user requests that you write about a certain topic. But more often than not, a blogger will write a post about a topic because a user posted a question or left a comment and the blogger thought the comment deserved more than a response in the comments. It's called user initiated content. The great thing about user initiated content is you CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
