Hi Max,
Thanks for the comment...yea, I agree social media is all the rage in web marketing right now, but businesses often don't spend the time to understand how it should be customized to their own business... :)

Hi Lorraine,
You summarized it nicely! Cookie cutter advice will only take you so far.

Another that comes to mind is that sometimes I might speak with a new potential client and they will ask my "advice" early in our sales process. I always say, I no nothing about your business, competition, marketplace, etc..once you are a client I am more than happy to spend time and develop a proper strategy...people always love free advice, that is why I have this blog :)

Sounds like the take home message is that cookie cutter advice only goes so far. SEO, like so many other things, is complex enough to have details that are highly variable from situation to situation. This is similar to what I do, which is teach people how to make videos, Every video is, or should be, different. Ever SEO online marketing campaign needs to have individual issues addressed as well.
Thanks, as always, for your sage advice and putting things into perspective.

Couldnt agree with you more Nick .. everyone seems to be going crazy with social media (internet marketers and business owners).. its the new buzzzz. I keep telling clients that it needs to make sense for your business ... for instance, its going to be challenging to sell garden tools or automotive parts on facebook :) hotel rooms and electronics .. different story !
