Personality Traits to Become an Online Marketer
Being an entrepreneur doesn’t just happen overnight. It is a fire that burns deep in your belly and some people have it and others don’t. It is not really something you can force upon yourself because you need to have a passion and a drive for the tools to actual make things happen online. There are certain traits a person needs to poses in order to succeed online with their website. Do you have them?

Some of the effective personally traits of an effective online marketer are:
Willingness to Learn: The internet is fast moving. Taking a few classes and sitting back is not going to get the job done like you want. You need to be willing to practice every day and read up on different tactics and efforts that you could apply to your own web marketing approach. Knowledge is power in the search engine marketing industry and those who are always willing to learn and teach themselves about various techniques are those that stay in front of the pack.
Passion For Online Marketing: If you are forcing the success of your website upon yourself and you don’t really enjoy the marketing or technology side of things you are going to have a long journey growing a successful business online. Search engine marketing is 75% marketing and 25% technical so it is important you are always trying and learning about new areas and techniques to further spread your business message.
Dedication Every Day: You need to have a dedication to your business and also the search engines because if you are in an industry that is somewhat saturated it will take some significant time to really stand out. It requires a person to understand that things take some time online to grow into sustainable income.

A short post, but a good one. People always ask me where and how I “learned” WordPress, SEO, and internet marketing. When I reply I am 100% self taught, they look at me as if I’m crazy. It is everything I can to do say “then this gig isn’t for you”.
If you’re not willing to invest the time to learn, there is no way you’ll be able to stay up with this constantly changing industry.
Hi Rebecca,
Thanks for reading and your comment!
Great points! Personally, I think learning by doing is the best way to really understand SEO and online marketing as a whole. Of course, you need to have patience and invest time learning continually!
Take Care!

Yes I agree with all you say Nick … but … where does one find the time to develop your Internet marketing skills and hopefully gain new clients, while meeting the needs of your current clients? You mention the need to develop your skills on a daily basis, but I am lucky to scrape an hour or two at the weekend. Guess it’s a matter of priorities eh?
Hi Denzil,
I would recommend to spend about 30 minutes every morning reading various internet marketing related blogs and industry sites…this will help you learn over time.
Thanks & Take Care,
Nick
Where is the personality trait of “lacking in social skills?” Just kidding. Good post- you eluded to it in your description of “Dedication every day” but I would go as far as to say- “grasshopper must be organized.” The web is the web… need I say more?
Just wanted to comment on your “30 minutes a day learning” comment – I’ve been reading myself up on SEO, internet marketing, learning joomla and wordpress and whatever I needed to create and maintain our site, and today I just started reading YOUR blogposts as a part of my 30 min a day-learning time.
I’ve received your mails for some months now, but until today I’ve only just opened them and let them wait till I’ve got more time… Now I don’t have more time, I just MAKE time because I want to learn more, and your posts is one of those ways. Thanks, Nick!
Thanks BangkokBeyond for reading, your kind words and for spending 30 minutes a day (with my blog on your list
Take Care,
Nick
