Optimizing Sites for TV
Google announced that its Google TV platform now optimizes your site for viewing from the comfort of your couch. Optimizing your site with Google TV’s “10 foot UI” (User Interface) will provide those viewing from their couch with a better experience by allowing for such things as larger text, site navigation using the remote control pad, and more visible selectable elements when navigating the site.

WHAT’S NEW THIS WEEK WITH BING:
Bing and Microsoft Tag Make Downloading the Perfect App a Snap
Bing announced the launch of “Microsoft Tag” for iPhone users. With Bing’s new Microsoft Tag implementation on the Visual Search gallery, you can download apps with just a snap of a tag.

WHAT’S NEW THIS WEEK WITH YAHOO!:
Insights into Multimedia Search User Behavior, Intent and Consumption
Yahoo put out an interesting post on their search blog about an exploratory study they recently conducted regarding multimedia search by users. Their hope was to gain insight on how people search for multimedia, once results are gained how are users consuming those results and lastly what are the likes and dislikes of users searching for multimedia.

    So, Nick, do you think that people are going to be laying on their couch surfing the net now instead of sitting down with their laptop or desktop? Or are they just going to still be using their TV as a TV? What’s your take?

    Thanks for reading and the question!

    It is very interesting type of landscape I think for TV over the next few years. Personally I think within the next 5 years we will have one device to watch TV and it will be all on demand and will be powered with a product like Google TV. I think Google TV has a long way to go but is a great first step into the next wave of entertainment…

    Anyway, those are my 2 cents on the topic. :)
