SEO Planning Can Help Speed Things Up!
You can’t really do much to speed things up but if you are not operating at 100% efficiency than you really can make serious improvements if you just make some changes. There are certain elements and efforts of search engine optimization that you can tweak in order to see movement that much quicker. Of course this all depends on what industry, niche or vertical you are in and just how much competition exists in the online space.
Target Different Keywords
Let’s face it, ranking for “web designer” is not going to happen too quickly. What kind of web designer are you? Where are you located? Change the direction of your keywords so that you can pull your website in different directions. Ranking for broad keywords is going to take a while no matter which niche you are in. Localizing or going for long tail phrases will allow your website to bounce and move around a little bit quicker.

Incorporate Different Tactics
I still talk to people every week that are pouncing one or two efforts into the ground hoping it will create a magical rainbow of traffic. You have to incorporate other elements to be successful online. Visibility and market penetration are important steps to marketing a web based business online. Your marketing traffic stream cannot be a one trick pony; it has have some meat & potatoes to it and not just salad.
Put A Plan Together
Is your marketing plan just shooting from the hip every month and not really thinking about it 100%? You need to have a structure to your marketing otherwise you are going to lose touch with it. Put a 12 month plan of attack on paper or in a spreadsheet and stick to it every month. When it comes time to making adjustments and tweaks it will be much easier because you will already know what you have done.
Search engine optimization is all about making things efficient and embracing a natural progression of growth online. The search engines like when they see a steady growth of marketing material without the appearance of forcing it like some search engine marketing campaigns.

Good post. Planning is a very important part of marketing, a part that usually gets ignored. A proper plan can keep things on track and will allow more progress.
I think all good projects need planning. I tend to use a 6 months schedule for my campaigns so I don’t loose focus and the goals are more visible. ‘Incorporate Different Tactics’ is a classic way to success. If your hounding only one alley, your missing out on the entire district.
SEO needs to be incorporated into the planning of every new site. By investigating the likely best keywords, you can decide how the site is structured, how many pages or sections are needed, even the domain name.
If this is done wrong, you can often find a lot of time is wasted re-designing sites, moving domains and re-writing content.
Hi Rory,
Great analogy to SEO planning and the district
Take Care!
Nick
Very well written. It is very important to plan SEO. SEO is so tactical and clever that you have to know exactly what you’re doing and when, and it must be very structured.
I totally agree with this article, great post. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks SEO Essex!
Time to become more aggressive re your SEO initiatives…great article, laying out the basics that alot of businesses miss quite often.
This is nice information, Nick. Planning is important, because ‘if user fails to plan, user plans to fail’. However, I wonder about the ‘Put 12 month….’ idea, because the way the technology is changing it is difficult to visualize > 6 months ahead.

Pl. refer: “Put a 12 month plan of attack on paper or in a spreadsheet and stick it every month”.
How do you come up with a winning SEO plan Nick?
Every business needs a business plan to prosper but not all business owners can write one. The same is-the case here. How do you create a great SEO plan?
Thanks for the useful info as always.
I`ve been working on the first part of my plan for 2 months now and just got knocked for rearranging my site – as far as i can tell.
I barely changed anything and now i`m having trouble being indexed . Any way planning to me is everything – if you don`t plan you don`t progress – it`s that simple.I like the spreadsheet idea to keep me on track and to guide me better . Thanks.
I would love my PS to be 100 but i`m still learning .
Plan, plan and plan somemore. Then test, test and test some more.
Without a plan how do you know where you are going or where you have been.
Very good post.
Cheers
