Nick,
As usual you are right on target. PPC does work and most of our clients that use it are usually bigger ticket clients. It has always worked well for my clients who are attorneys. You can also cap how much you want to spend a day/month. I agree that you have to look at it from client to client. Great article.

I believe that it is important to have a balanced approach of SEO, SEM, Social and PPC. If a website is positioned well for certain keywords a PPC ad helps increase the overall search marketshare and conversion as well. Of course, every website and business is totally different, but this approach does work well as well…

The only point here I disagree with is the PPC. If your website is already generating organic traffic from chosen keywords then why spend money on trying to get more from the same keywords when you could spend it on trying to find better links to rank for better keywords?
