Blog Link Building Items to Test

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

Oh the old holy grail of search engine optimization, the link (besides content, of course!). Getting a link to your blog post can take some serious work especially if you have found yourself smack in the middle of an extremely competitive industry. How will you stand out? What will you do that is different from others in your space? It takes a very creative mind and approach to stand out in a heavily saturated industry.

Here are some ideas on different blog posts you can do in order to stand out and can help your overall blog link building campaign:

Interview Someone Important
This can sometimes be tough to achieve but if you interview the right person and ask the right questions that many would like to ask than you could see a very nice influx in one way links pointing to your website. Ask questions that really dig into the truth of an industry especially if it is one plagued with conspiracy theories. If you interview someone in your industry that runs a company that tends to be in the spotlight more often than others you can pretty much guarantee some really great links pointing at you.

Review and Recommend Some Relevant Products

Are there 2-3 industry standard tools or products used in your industry? Rip them apart and write a review explaining the pros and cons between all of them.

Attend an Industry Conference
Most industries have sort of user conference or tradeshow surrounding their business. Go to one and write from it and leave specific points surrounding each topic you write about.

Write About Industry Data
Gathering together a variety of interesting industry data and trends and write about them. Compare the trends historically to any other data you might have sitting around from years ago and explain your ideas regarding which direction things are shifting and why. Everyone likes to see statistics and numbers on their industry especially if they are vastly different than they once were.

Building natural one way links to your blog post can happen you just have to step into the shoes of your audience who is reading your posts and try to think about what they like to read.

great tips! I have tried to implement these into my posts. The only one I need to try and accomplish is attending an industry conference. I think not only will this give me great content, but hey…I could learn a thing or a million!

Hi Nick – I like it! – Particulary the idea of presenting industry stats, I’ve seen some sites use that idea and produce some excellent infographics that get linked to because they are just so … well… linkable!
