If you have decided to launch a blog in order to fill the void of having a hobby or simply to try and create some new income for yourself there are some things you are going to want and try to avoid if you want your audience to keep coming back and reading your blog posts. If you turn off your audience right from the bat you are going to have a hard time building up a following for your blog.
Here are some things to avoid that could irritate your blog readers:
Google Adsense Ads: I like to call them search marketing food stamps. If you have more Google ads than you do content you need to rethink your ink a little bit. Nobody wants to see the whole blog post littered with so many Google ads that they have a hard time actually reading the content. That is a major turn off to readers. Of course, there are times to add Google Adsense ads to your blog if you need to cover your costs. But please add them tastefully!
Affiliate Links: Have you ever read a post that has an affiliate link located in each sentence? Chances are you didn’t like it and left almost immediately. Search engines frown upon too many affiliate links in blog posts as well, so from a search ranking stand point the inclusion of affiliate links is something you want to do tastefully. Two or three affiliate links in the post once in a while is the way to do it.
Misspellings: Nobody is perfect and misspellings in posts will happen sometimes but if your entire post has a half a dozen misspellings then you are just blatantly not conducting a proper spell check and the user experience from your reader’s standpoint is not going to be a good one. You could actually have a reputation management issue on your hands at some point from not conducting a proper spell check.
Launching a blog in today’s marketplace is all about quality. You have to bring some really good news and writing to the table if you want your blog audience to grow and allow your website to become truly successful. Quality of your blog should always be number one on your list so you can keep the user experience top notch. Without a good user experience you are not going to grow into a power blogger.
