Push Buttons to Increase Website Conversions

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

I hear all of the time about how websites generate traffic but nothing seems to convert. “We get a decent amount of traffic but nothing seems to happen”. Often times it is just little changes that need to be made in order to build confidence or trust in your website traffic. They want to see more than just products or services.

Here are several buttons to push that can help increase conversions:

Exchanges & Returns
If you are an e-commerce company, you should have a clear area for returns and exchanges or a customer service section. This is extremely important because your online visitors need to be able to know that they can return something if they do not like the product.

A Physical Address
This might sound silly but you should have an address visible on all pages of your website. The best location is often times to have it in the footer of your website. It allows your customer to have that warm and fuzzy feeling that they know where you are located. Nobody wants to spend money with a company that has no physical existence.

Certification or License Numbers
Are you in an industry that requires some sort of certification process that generates a license or certification number? Makes those clearly visible on your service pages in order to instill confidence in your audience that you are fully qualified to complete the job or task at hand.

Team Page
You might think this doesn’t have an impact, but it does. Your audience likes to see who is behind the website or company. If there are numerous people at your company you should make a page for your team so that your audience realizes that there is more than just one person behind the scenes.

Press
Don’t forget to update your press page frequently and make it visible. A good healthy press page can instantly add credibility to your name.

Overlooking these sections might not be the end of the world, but adding them could be the difference between the phone ringing and not ringing. So, it is very important to push your visitors’ buttons because that can help increase website conversions.

Interesting points here, Nick which are useful but also easy to overlook.

We sometimes forget though the wider point that we need to look at the website from a new visitor’s perspective. And it’s not just the web design or features that count but the products, pricing, site flow, usability, calls to action etc and how you stack up against your competitors…

So my advice is to stand back and check your marketing fundamentals too!
