The New Face Of Blog Comment Spam

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

While approving comments for a WordPress blog I came across some comments that were clearly spam, but that were not so easily identified as spam at first glance. These comments almost snookered me, a seasoned WordPress user and comment analyzer, so I thought it might be a good idea to issue a warning. If you are a blogger, check your comments carefully. The comments in question appeared to be harmless. They were carefully crafted comments that specifically addressed the posts on which they were made. They were customized just for a specific blog post, unlike most spam which is bot generated and generic. The problem with these comments, however, CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Will Free Last Forever?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

This search engine optimization blog is free. Hope you enjoy it. It's free to read. And I hope you see its value. Lots of people do. I know, because I hear it every day. So free is beautiful, right? Not according to some people. Free is a sham, says these two entrepreneurs. Of course, Chris Anderson disagrees. He says free is the currency of the web. Who's right? Chris Brogan has a brilliant post on this very thing. If free is so great, why isn't everyone doing it? Does your SEO provide his services for free? Why not? Is Content Better Than SEO?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

I hear the argument all the time. Those who fall down on the "SEO is more important" side point to rankings as the evidence that SEO is more important than content. Writing by Nick Stamoulis

There are time when blogging is accused of simply repeating or rewriting content that appears on other blogs or other web sites. I am not sure why this is seen as a negative when the practice is the life blood of the internet. Take announcements by the search engines as an example. They don't run big publicity campaigns when releasing new features, they simply publish a blog post about it. Why? They know that a thousand (or more) bloggers will pick up the post, rewrite it (often with their own views) and publish the information on their blogs. This is in a way viral marketing at its best. It is certainly now one of the fastest ways to spread the word. Why is it good for the CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
