Drawbacks of PPC
I tend to shrug off PPC in favor of good old-fashioned organic marketing whenever possible. I have a number of reasons for doing this: PPC produces a finite result - once your budget is expended, it is gone. Distinguishing buyers may avoid PPC ads - People that have been around the Internet block, may unconsciously screen out obvious advertising. PPC is not a guarantee of leads - PPC merely guarantees traffic not leads. PPC has a definite place in web marketing, but I will always prefer what can be accomplished through the right balance of keywords and text. Great content can work wonders. Where PPC has its place is when you are trying to give your sales a short term boost or when you are launching into CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Domain Names, a Crucial Part of Your Brand
Domain names are one of the most important parts of your brand. If you don't think that is true, just think about the last time that you looked for a product that you were interested in last time. Did you search for it, or did you just enter the company name in the location bar and hit enter? When it comes to computer peripherals, I have a favorite company. The company's name is Razer and they produce a range of performance keyboards and mice. They are generally geared towards gaming and or professional applications. The trouble is that the company is remarkably difficult to find. Type in: "www.razer.com" and you will get an error page. The domain is not CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Blogging for Site Promotion
We all know that blogging generates traffic, but how can it be used to promote a website? A great way to pitch your products is by blogging to enthusiasts. This is not always easy as if you do not know what you are talking about; the fact will soon become apparent. If you are aiming to build traffic in this way, then you should ensure that it is strictly a soft sell approach. Hard selling on a blog looks spammy and people do not like that. There are other places for the hard sell. It is not essential to sell your products and services in every single blog article. If the blog is interesting enough, it will keep people coming CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Internet Marketing Plan – Plan Early!
Small Business Branding posted an excellent blog post two days ago on marketing plans. While I agree that marketing plans are essential for traditional businesses, they are less so for Internet businesses - at least, as they exist for traditional businesses. Internet marketing plans are a good way to keep you focused on goals so I wouldn't say they aren't necessary at all. But you have different considerations for your Internet marketing campaign. A traditional business plan usually follows this outline: Business Summary and Overview Market Analysis Competitive Analysis Product or Service Outline Marketing Strategy Production Processes SWOT Analysis Business Structure Management Team Financial Information Your Internet Marketing Plan First, there is a distinction between a business plan and a marketing plan. Your business plan, in its completion, could include an Internet marketing plan, which would fall CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Internet Marketing Strategies Others Have Used Successfully
Which Internet marketing method is for you? Some people swear by the free marketing tools available to Internet businesses, tools such as SEO, e-mail marketing, affiliate marketing, etc. Others swear by the pay-per methods like pay-per-click advertising. Personally, I think a combination of methods is best. You don't just want to use one method of advertising because you'll be missing out on some great opportunities. The following Internet marketing methods have been very successful for businesses who try them. I suggest you pick two or three to try for yourself and see what results you get: Search engine optimization Search engine marketing Pay-per-click advertising E-mail marketing E-zine/newsletter marketing Affiliate marketing Video marketing Social networking Local search marketing Blog marketing Article marketing Press releases This is not the exhaustive list. It is a good start, though, for businesses that CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

How Future Retailers Will Sell Products Online
(Source) The development of multi-channel marketing is one of the most impactful things happening in internet retail these days. As I have written about before, the idea that customers want to order online but pick up their merchandise in a physical store seems counter intuitive. However, there is growing evidence that they want to do exactly that. This gives a tremendous advantage to multi-channel merchants because not only do they see an increase of online sales but they also see significant upsell revenue once they get their online customers into their stores. Multi-channel marketing is in its infancy, but I believe it's here to stay. The verdict is out on Internet shopping. People don't want to buy online. They want to shop online and pick CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Should A Blogger Blog Off Topic?
I often find myself reading something entirely not SEO-related, which is why, I think, I like reading John Chow's blog. Not every day. But on occasion. Well, this morning on his blog John Chow talked about going off topic on his blog. It seems that some of his readers don't like it when he isn't talking about making money. John points out that his blog is intended to be a personal blog, which gives him liberty to talk about anything he wants to talk about. It just so happens that he likes talking about making money. I find his post a little bit humorous - and I'm sure he does as well - but it does have a serious element of being true. Here's CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Small Business Branding Tips From Three Corners Of The Web
Google Website Optimizer is a pretty useful tool. Don't you think? Now, after a year, they've added a snazzy new A/B split tester. If you're inclined to running A/B split tests, I'd put this on the essential tool list. Mr. SEO was interviewed by Kevin Levi at Small Business Branding and he tells us how to use SEO to brand your business. He has some pretty useful tips on link building, using SEO tools (he recommends Trellian and Overture), and putting the right keywords to work for you. Over at Search Engine Land this morning they're talking about how to brand a small business online. The thing that stood out in my mind in this particular blog post was this small paragraph: Let's look at CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Should You Start A Web Business?
Obviously, the answer this question is "Yes," right? Well, uh, no. Actually. You would think a guy like me would try to convince everyone to start an Internet business so I can snag them as customers of my SEO business. But that's not the way I do things. Truth be told, I love doing business online. I think it is fairly safe despite all of the talk about phishing and online payment schemes. If you're careful, though, e-commerce can be safer than doing business off line. But that's an aside. The question asked in the title of this post gets to the heart of passion. Namely, what is yours? Is Internet Marketing For Everyone? Internet marketing isn't for everyone and everyone won't benefit from running an Internet business. I CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Can You Really Make Money From A Personal Blog?
Is it possible to earn a full-time income from blogging. John Chow says he is doing just that. Total Blog Income For August 2007: $17,828.61 The amazing thing about the income figure - aside from the number itself - is I set it in the heart the summer. The other amazing thing is it will most likely be broken next month as those private ad spots kick in. Here is the income breakdown. * Affiliate Sales: $7,244.00 * ReviewMe: $4,200.00 * Private Ad Sales: $2,370.00 * Text Link Ads: $2,157.88 * Kontera: $1,000 * Google AdSense: $490.94 * FeedBurner: $131.18 * CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
Which Level Of Business Enterprise Do You Fall Into?
There are really three levels of business enterprise. It helps if you know which one you belong to as you will be better able to market your services to the right market. Here are the three levels of business, and this applies online as well as off line: Small Business Enterprise Small to Mid-Size Business Enterprise Corporate Enterprise These three levels of business likely have other names, but this is how I categorize them. The first category, small business enterprise, is made up of local DBAs, mom and pop shops, freelancers, artisans, crafts people working alone, small co-ops, and most local businesses. In short, the small business enterprise category is largely a local market with some variations. I make the exception for the small business that operates solely online. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...
