Almost every single industry has some sort of events that occur every year. Whether it is a user conference for a software company or a trade show for a whole industry there are opportunities to build nice relevant links to help your search engine optimization efforts by utilizing these types of events.

Write Blog Posts Prior
You usually know well in advance when a specific conference or trade show will be occurring, start writing various blog posts or articles surrounding that particular event.

Examples Blog Post Topics:
• How to meet great contacts at XYZ Event
• Time Management Tips At This Year’s XYZ Event
• How To Get The Most Bang For Your Buck At This Year’s XYZ Event

Get the picture? If these posts are written correctly they could spread throughout your industry and create some really nice inbound links pointing to your website. Make sure to write them well in advance though otherwise someone could beat you to it.

Create A Series Of Something
Create a series of videos while you are at the event. Bring a small portable video camera with you and record your every step while you narrate what it is that you are doing. You can even request some interviews of key people you might want to speak with. When you are in your hotel room that evening load the videos up on YouTube and also write a blog post on them linking the two to each other and push them through your social space. People will push them around even further as long as the quality of the video is somewhat decent. Obviously you are not going to have the time to have it professionally edited but try your best to make sure it is of decent quality.

Run A Promotion
Run a fun promotion prior to and during the event on your blog or website and promote the heck out of it. If it is something really great you are offering other bloggers will write about and push it out into their social space online as well but you have to make sure to give it time to marinate.

There are many ways you can generate links from the announcement of an event you just have to get creative with it. Put on your marketing hat and see what you can come up with and see how other websites will link naturally to your various event blog posts.
