The increased importance of local search marketing is bringing more small. local businesses into the SEM marketplace. Good news.

However , I think many struggle with social marketing. Big national brands may be interesting to lots of people - but is the local shop or plumber going to make riveting online chat, particularly when the business is only of infrequent use?

How intested are you in plumbing until you need it? A tweet about selling another can of beans? Wow......

A touch of creativity is still required methinks....

Hi Rory,
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts!

Real time search is where the future of search marketing is heading indeed! People are starting to want information faster that is more up to date. It always kills me to see 4 to 5 year old pages rank well in the engines just because they are trusted pages...I think there needs and will be a balance of trust and time sensitive info...

Great article, I believe 'Real Time Content' is going to be a huge part of SEO in the future, with the likes of twitter and wordpress your content can be indexed in hours. Making your site the most up to date its can be, who would get more pripority - a site updated 7 months ago or a site updated 7 hours ago?
