Sure, I am happy to answer your question. As a best practice, I never like to keep more than 50 outgoing links from a one page on a website. Anyway, this is a best practice that I have always tried to stick by and has worked well for me over the years. Thanks for reading!

Nick,

When you talk about the “50 links” are you saying that we should put all of our content on our server rather than link to a newsparer article or government website? Or, are you just saying we shoudln’t link to more than 50 of our own other websites / articles.

Thanks for the question, I think sometimes Google misses things, just think, there are billions of websites out there…I always recommend following Google’s webmaster guidelines to avoid any potential penalty issues. Thanks for reading and the comment!

Is this correct:
“Per Google guidelines a web page should not exceed fifty links.”

If so, how do very popular pages or Websites with many 1,000′s of links to them get away from being Google slapped?
