I love that you mentioned diverse link portfolio. This is the essence of SEO, tap on various types of backlinks. However, some links outweigh others as not all backlinks are created equally. Blog comment, social bookmarking, forum profile etc…have been abused and Google knows that.

I personally will put more effort for contextual link such as article, press release, etc…
