Are Keyword-Rich Microsites Black Hat? – Video Lesson

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

If someone were to search for your branded keywords, and 9 out of the top 10 sites are microsites, that dilutes your brand and gives a poor message. If those microsites are ranking better than your actual site, you’ve become your own competition. A microsite has to be built with a real marketing purpose and have a solid marketing strategy behind it. Keyword-rich microsites that are just designed to rank clutter up the search results and could soon face a search engine crackdown.

Hey Nick, I wanted to ask your opinion about something.

Would you consider it blackhat for a web design company to start just one separate keyword rick domain name blog to try and rank for a neighboring city that he’d like to get in the market with. For example if I bought panamawebdesign.com and put a blog on it for the sole purpose of bringing traffic to main site. I would put good content on it, web design tips and tricks etc.

Do you think this could hurt my brand? Thanks!

    Dave

    Hi Dave,
    Thanks for watching my video!

I would say this should work for you as long as you build your brand on this site as well.

    Thanks,
