Yes, EVERY Page Needs to Be Optimized

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

For smaller site owners, this isn’t a terrifying prospect. While the entire optimization process (keyword research, rewriting content, creating Meta tags and descriptions, etc) can take a while from start to finish, a website that only has 50-100 pages isn’t going to have to spend the next month implementing changes. That may not be the case for much larger sites and their owners. For a site with 1,000+ pages (most likely an e-commerce site), on-site optimization is going to take much longer and will have to be implemented over time. Here are a few tips for making sure that every page gets optimized: 1. Check out what pages Google has indexed You can either use the site operator search (site:YourURL.com) right in the Google search or (for more CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Social Media Expert, or Kid Who Has a Facebook?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

This is a guest post written by Amanda DiSilvestro of Business.com Now that social media has entered the marketing scene, so has the position of social media expert. Since social media is fairly new, it makes sense that not every veteran business owner is up to date on the latest social media lingo. Fortunately for the business owner, they can hire a social media expert to take care of the new-age marketing practices. Unfortunately for the business owner, they have to somehow interview and hire this “expert.” If you are unfamiliar with social media, don’t sweat it. Before hiring a social media expert there are a few things you can look for that will point you in the right direction. In many cases, this will be CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Can I Ask You a Quick SEO Question?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

In the world of SEO, there are very few “quick” questions. Sure, I can give you the basic definition of what SEO and SEM are, explain why link building is important and give you a bullet list of blog post topic ideas, but what good is that really going to do for your website? All that information you could learn in ten minutes from the Google Webmaster Tools page on SEO and a few blog posts, but those sources aren’t going to give you any radical insights into how to make SEO work for your site. And neither can I in a ten minute call. In order to answer your “quick” SEO question, I need to ask you ten not-so-quick questions about your marketing and your CLICK HERE TO READ MORE...

Is Blogging a Necessary Evil?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

I’ve written my share of posts explaining why a business blog is valuable, but some site owners still feel like blogging is just another uphill battle for their business to take on. It’s no easy task setting time aside every day to write a new blog post and then commit to promoting it (essential for success!) once they go live. Every site owner struggles to come up with relevant topics, attract loyal readers and build their reputation as an industry authority. Blogging, as part of an inbound marketing campaign, is an incredibly long term process and it’s very easy to lose faith after investing three months of hard work and not seeing the return you were expecting. Enterprise SEO Best Practice Tips

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

While the rules and guidelines of white hat SEO should apply to every website no matter how big or small it is, getting the SEO ball rolling in a large company is often a lot harder than when working with a small to mid-size company. As an SEO provider, the most challenging part about working with a large company is that it takes forever to get things approved. There is a much larger chain of command to work through and the person I directly report to isn’t usually at the top of that chain. It turns the enterprise SEO process into a very complicated situation very quickly. Here are 4 best practice tips to help streamline your enterprise SEO: 1. The Michael Bay Style of Content Development

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

I came across this great post the other day on searchengineguide.com. Written by Stoney deGeyter, it’s 30+ SEO analogies that struck me as funny and yet so very true at the same time. I believe in having a sense of humor about your work and this post was right up my alley. One of my favorite analogies was this, SEO is like a Michael Bay movie. It can look pretty, but if you're just throwing a bunch of crap at your audience, they'll just shrug and walk away. I think Stoney hit the nail on the end with that one, especially when it comes to content marketing, a critical component of SEO. You Can’t Win the SEO Race if You Don’t Try

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

For site owners, there is little more frustrating than feeling like you are doing everything with your SEO and search marketing right and finding that the competition is still two steps ahead of you. Even worse is when it looks like the competition is using black hat SEO to dominate the SERPs. You might think to yourself, “What’s the point of my SEO anymore? It’s not working!” Before you throw your hands up in the air and walk away from SEO forever, remember these 3 things: Your competition earned it Your top competitors (providing they used white hate link building techniques) have earned the right to be ranking well in the search engines. How Much Should Content Writing Cost?

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

Many businesses don’t have the internal resources to fully commit to content marketing, so they look to hire a freelance copywriter to shoulder most of the work. If you don’t have the writing skills or time to devote to content marketing, this is a great idea! A good professional copywriter has the skills and know-how to craft great content for your website or blog and capture the attention of your target audience to get your brand noticed. But hiring a freelance SEO copywriter to handle your content writing begs the question, “How much should I be paying for my outsourced content?” There really is no “right” answer for how much it costs to outsource your content.
