Honestly I am not sure about the cookie question, I would need to research that one a bit and the ranking software products (such as Web Position) tend to not be all that accurate these days because of personalization of search.

2 issues please if you can…
-what about users who delete cookieד from their browsers in an automatic fashion?
-what about ranking software(with SE’s API’s keys) they don’t push the results, right?

Nick – thanks for sharing. We recently tested local search with a group of 8 business owners sitting in the same room. 3 of the 8 received very different results when searching on “web designers”. One of them told me later he was able to influence/change his personal search results by the end of the day.

As you said, it reinforces the need to have a comprehensive strategy to drive traffic and convert them to leads/customers when they arrive.
