In the old days of search engine optimization the gurus would write an article and submt it to hundreds of article directories in hopes that webmasters, e-zine editors, and other publishers would pick up the article and publish it sending traffic and high quality backlinks in the author’s direction. Well, the article directories still exist and you can still submit your articles to them, but if you get any traffic and/or back links it’s a slow process. Sometimes a very slow process.
Today, you can actually get better, higher quality links much faster and get loads more traffic in the process by doing article marketing in another way.
What you do is write an article highly optimized around your keyword and include an author resource box just like the way it used to be done. Then you submit that article to a high profile blogger within your niche. If the blogger publishes your article you’ll get an immediate backlink and traffic on the day that your article is published. Plus, other bloggers will write about it and send more traffic to the article, which will filter down to more traffic for you. It’s a much more immediate process and your links are much higher quality.
You can do this as many times as you want but only submit one article at a time to only one blog. Everyone wants unique content and if you submit the same article to multiple places, no one will have unique content. That’s why you’ll want to limit the distribution of your article so that you don’t run into duplicate content issues with your optimization link building efforts.
