		<description><![CDATA[As someone that has only just begun to skim the surface of SEO and online marketing, I can attest to the time and effort needed to get results.  It all started with the idea to set up a Facebook page, which then included the creation of a Twitter account.  At the end of each day, after only having spent an hour or so dabbling in social networking, and scanning every blog possible to gain a little more insight, you never truly feel any further ahead than when you started!  

I would agree that you definitely need to know what you are getting yourself into when jumping into SEO and online marketing.  I think that everyone assumes it will just involve a lot of &#039;monitoring&#039; or surfing, but they are quick to discover how much they must commit.

Building a site isn&#039;t half the work. Maintaining it and building solid relationships with clients is even more consuming. 

Of course, you have to build the site correctly with SEO at every step. And you also have to update/add new content regularly, even if it&#039;s a stodgy old CMS and not a newfangled blog.

Of course you have to add more in-bound links at every turn. This means pushing your content to article directories and also responding intelligently with comments on blogs (plus a half-dozen other methods possible).

And you are right that Social Media Marketing has to take a slotted amount of time daily, even though it&#039;s tempting to go at it all day. 

But those three legs of that stool are what it takes now days to get and keep a site ranking. If you live on new customers, you have to keep on top of those rankings. After page 1, it&#039;s mostly crickets chirping, owls hooting, and coyotes calling in the distance.]]></description>
