With the New Year right around the corner it can often times feel like a clean slate ready to start the new business year on a fresh page. The same applies to search engine marketing and how you go about building your business online. It’s been a strange few years for many businesses which is why 2011 should be the year where you grab your search marketing campaigns by the neck and really work them.

Here are some great goals if you are not sure where to start:

Increased Blog Writing
2011 is the year to blow the dust of your blog and kick things up a notch. Tell yourself that you will make an effort to increase your frequency of writing every week.

A Little Extra Link Building
Now is a great time to get going with your link building if you haven’t really done so yet. Sometimes all you need is just a little bit to give your website that extra little shove. Take the time early in the year to put a plan together for the New Year and you (and your search engine optimization program!) will be glad you did.

Get More Involved With Social Media Marketing
Social media is happening right now with great force. If you have not yet decided to enter this space or have with very little effort 2011 has to be the year where you become much more visible in the social media territory.

More Knowledge
You know simply understanding more about how the search engines work and operate is a great New Year’s resolution. If you outsource this work but have never really understand what is happening take the time this year to at least understand the basics of what it takes so you are able to communicate with your search marketing firm or employee.

Let the New Year be your fresh start to your SEO and search engine marketing campaign. Search engine marketing is a fast moving train and getting started sometimes feels like you have to try and jump and hold on. Holding off any longer will not do anything for your marketing.
