Why SEO Requires Careful Attention
If people would realize that search engine optimization is not just a one-time approach that consists of air dropping a palette full of keywords onto your website and flying away, more businesses would be able to see the value in conducting online marketing to grow their business. Think about how much the search engines have evolved from when they first came into the picture over ten years ago. Things change very quickly and so does your online marketing approach. All it takes is a small industry community website to pop up and all of a sudden your audience is there, are you there to greet them? You should be.

SEO is long term but requires many tweaks along the way. Here are a few reasons below why you need to really keep a close careful eye on your search engine marketing efforts:
Fast Changing: News flash, link exchanges are not a productive source of link building any more. The industry is always changing because for the most part techniques and efforts get beat into the ground every few years and the search engines have no choice but to revamp their efforts a bit. You need to be in tune to when these changes happen.
New Portals: If you follow the online industry there are new portals and website creeping up every single day that are causing many to have to get involved in one way or another. New social websites appear all the time and not all of them are Twitter or Facebook but are still important to be part of in some way. Websites like TechCrunch are great to follow for new tools and up and coming online networks that businesses should be a part of.
Behavior Patterns: The environment around us is making people change their purchase and behavior patterns. Shopping and searching is not what it was even a year ago. Search engines are changing by the minute and if you don’t follow your search engine optimization techniques closely you might get left behind. SEO is not something that is done casually anymore. It is either all or nothing when it comes to proper search engine marketing efforts.
Search engine marketing requires a careful eye. Depending on what type of industry you are in will determine whether you need to do daily, weekly or monthly activities. There should be some sort of action or communication effort with your audience on daily basis regardless. The search engine optimization world moves quick and you need to get into the mindset of moving just as fast if you want to stand out and be visible in your industry.

Great article.
Things change so quickly that unless you’re completely on top of your game your competition will pass you by.
As a corporate and global Search Engine Optimization strategist, I daily monitor the trends and search habits of our customers and competition looking for areas to emphasize and exploit.
@Darrell_Weaver
Hi Darrell,
Thanks for reading and your comment. This is so true, I have seen good sites/businesses that are on top of the engines that get complacent which sometimes brings them down long term…
SEO requires attention because it’s taugh to get it right when everyone is trying to get it right so much. Whether using black hat seo or jsut standard techniques, we’re all fighting to get traffic, sales, subscribers..and so on.
Hello Nick
I agree with you that SEO is moving in an express train and if one has to to be on top you need to catch the same train else you are way behind. We are fighting for space and attention and not everyone can be on the top.
Where do you think all this is taking us to? Is there a possibility of a ‘Blue Ocean Strategy’ for SEO too?
I request you to share your insights on the above.
Thank you.
Information technology is progressing at an exponential rate. To excel every business has to adopt to changes fast. It’s survival of the fittest, either you make it or you don’t.
hi says: “News flash, link exchanges are not a productive source of link building any more” anyone know why?
Nick:
Thanks for the great article! Thats why I have you doing the SEO for 1-800-PLUMBING. I don’t have the time to monitor all the changes and I depend on your expertise to provide an effective SEO strategy for my company. We have been working together for almost 2 years now and we always see great results from your efforts!

Nick,
I have been using a software for site submission and have noticed my alexa ranking increase dramatically, plus my ranking for my keyword increase. I have been quite pleased with the results so far.
I was curious what your opinion/experience was in regards to using software programs for SEO? (perhaps a future blog post about this topic?)
Thanks, Reid
Hi Reid,
Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts…
