Thanks for reading, your comment and I will do my best to try to answer your question. From my experience a subdirectory tends to work better from an SEO perspective. This is mainly due to if you have a sub directory, then you are leveraging the link building efforts, age of your site, etc.

I have seen the sub domain type approach work well in some cases, but generally speaking sub domains are treated link domains, so they often require a separate link building program. The benefits to the subdomain structure is often it is easier to promote a sub domain through other advertising and marketing channels (online and office).

Nick, I have an off topic question that I know you can answer. I’ve been reseaching subdomain (subdomain.domian.com) vs. subdirectory (www.domain.com/subdirectory) lately. All articles I found in my search seem to miss the point. They talk about either the technical differences between them or “host crowding”. But, none address the issue of what is best for positioning. So, I’m asking you, which is better for getting higher up in the search results?
