I've included an FAQ section in our site simply because of the nature of our business. However, because we have specialties in a variety of categories, such as power systems engineering, infrared thermography, vibration analysis to name a few, my biggest concern was, how far do I go? There's no way I'd be able to list all the FAQs for each specialty, so I specifically asked the technicians for literally their FREQUENT questions and decided to leave it at that.

Nick, interesting article. I was just working on the answer to the same question for a client - does FAQ belong on a website. I opted for Facebook content instead.
I think, the answer lies in analytics. Look at the traffic acquisition to the FAQ pages and note how much money they are making for your business. If the work you are doing justifies the revenue - there is nothing wrong with the FAQ pages, optimized for search engines.

Hi Nick,

We are a startup in the unique field of Leadership Intelligences (as opposed to the more common leadership development) and just building our website. We definitely plan to have an FAQ section simply because our concept is unique and sure to lead to a lot of questions. But I do see your point about how the FAQ section can be used for SEO purposes. Thanks for your input! (I'll let you know how our FAQs go after they have been up a while)

Cheers!

Hi Nick,

Firstly nice info thanks!!

With respect to FAQ's i feel it can be beneficial to any business, coz the clients or anyone(including our competitors) would like to know what and how we do ? I feel all startups should have FAQ for trust building but presentation is what matters the most. If we could present the information inspiring; than exactly showcasing our strengths and strategies that could really help. And big players already have their trust built well !!

Correct me if i am wrong :)

Regards,
