Optimize Your Website Sooner Than Later

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

Search engine optimization is something that allows your website to poke its head through the ugly clutter that exists online in the search space. Every day you see more and more junk finding its way into the pages of search results creating even more of a barrier between you and your audience. Waiting longer is not going to do anything for you so you must act now or be invisible even longer.

Here are four reasons why optimizing your website now is imperative:

More & More Online Clutter
The online clutter is not going to stop any time soon and more and more is being poured into the web almost every single day. Will all of it find its way to the front pages of the search results? Most likely not but all it takes is one to make it and it could pull away very valuable traffic from your website. Can you afford to lose business to website clutter?

Competition Getting Smarter Everyday
Search engine optimization is not something that is talked about in secret any longer; it is something that is a high level priority in many department and company meetings across the globe. Some of those meetings could very well be taking place in the board rooms of your closest competitors. (they probably are)

Everything Is Going Digital
Direct mail will someday be phased out. Might not happen right now but up and coming generations don’t care for physical paper and that is just a reality. Businesses across the globe are pulling all their resources back and phasing in a full digital campaign with greater force than ever before. The digital era is not just an era but a complete lifestyle overhaul.

Mobile Technology
With mobile technology seeing explosive growth right now in the industry a natural transition for a business to go from digital would be over to mobile marketing. People need information on the go and that is not going to change anytime soon.

The moral of this story is that online marketing is happening now and if you still haven’t updated your website from 2001 you have some work ahead of you. The good news is there is room for everyone to play so let’s get going.

    Nick,

Couldn’t agree more. How often do small businesses miss out on being found because they haven’t optimized their sites in years (if at all). Times change and so do people’s search habits.

Thank you so much for emphasizing the importance of SEO. Please make some tips what is the most important procedure of doing that except of course of making a good content. Thank you.

  • Robert Worstell says:

The interesting point is that only about 1% of websites are actually optimized. This is why an SEO’d site will rise rather quickly with no other factors present. When you add various advertising and backlink campaigns, this can rapidly get you to the top of any key phrase you are targeting.

While more companies are working to increase their digital footprint, this doesn’t mean they are effectively improving their efficiency online. And you can find much smaller, newer sites out-ranking major corporate sites.

Your argument to do this now is very accurate and applicable. Preferably, this should be done from the get-go. Time is money, after all…

    Nick,
Thanks for your very useful and help article on SEO.
For many bloggers SEO is a nightmare and may be its time to shift from ‘how to’ and tell on ‘do’ SEO this way.
