Social Media Wise Guy Reply Tips

Writing by Nick Stamoulis

Have you ever posted a blog post link in your social media stream or blog and you get those individuals that have to rip it apart the post for no reason? Dealing with social media wise asses comes with the territory when you start to market your business online and you can’t let others get to you. Part of the process of putting yourself out there for others to communicate comes with a flood of the good and the bad.

Make It Visible: If someone leaves a comment for you on your blog that is a wise ass comment post it for everyone to see as long as it is not downright rude. It will show your audience you are not that scared to show your audience when someone takes a jab at you and it also shows them your confidence in your abilities.

Respond Professionally:
Be the bigger person and respond professionally. You want to show class? Answer their smart ass comment with a strong piece of factual information making them look like a child. Responding unprofessionally is what that person wants so don’t fall into their trap. If you really want to get back at them try using your industry knowledge as a weapon.

Kill Them With Kindness: There is nothing worse than taking a jab at someone and having them smile back. Kill them with kindness is what I always say. Your wise ass commenter will most likely squirm when you respond with a very gentle and kind comment.

Ask A Question?:
If the commenter is being nasty about something specific ask them a question that directly ties in your industry to the root cause of their comment and see if they respond. Get them to talk because maybe they are just frustrated with something and you could potentially solve a problem they are having without even know it.

The last thing you want to do is fight back with negativity. The moral of this post is to keep things in your industry professional. Show your audience you are a class act and not a caddy business owner. Don’t stoop to anyone’s levels because negative situations will not grow your business the right way.
